Is it true that frequent ejaculation can prevent prostate cancer?

Understanding the Male Ejaculation Process

Ejaculation is the process of releasing sperm cells and semen from the male reproductive organs.

Ejaculation is a process that occurs in the male body and is regulated by the central nervous system. In general, this process occurs simultaneously with orgasm or peak sexual satisfaction.

Sexual stimulation and friction in the penis area will provide signals that are sent to the spinal cord and brain. As long as men enjoy sexual stimulation, the brain will also send signals to the reproductive organs.

When the reproductive organs receive the signal, sperm and semen will be prepared to exit the reproductive organs through the penis. After that, sperm and semen will come out of the penis along with contractions in the penile muscles.

Testosterone is a hormone produced by the testicles. This hormone becomes ‘fuel’ in the process of male ejaculation. The testes are also organs that produce millions of sperm every day.

Can Frequent Ejaculation Prevent Prostate Cancer?

Prostate cancer is a condition in the body where cancer cells arise in the prostate. Prostate cancer is one of the most common types of cancer found.

Most prostate cancers grow slowly and do not cause serious harm. However, there are several types that need treatment because they are malignant and can spread quickly.

A research conducted by Harvard TH Chan School of Public Health revealed, men who ejaculate more than 20 times per month have a 20 percent lower risk of developing prostate cancer; when compared with men who ejaculate only 4 to 7 times per month.

Even so, researchers do not know for sure about the relationship between ejaculation frequency and prostate cancer risk.

One theory that supports this is that ejaculation can remove cancer-causing materials, infections, and other inflammatory substances from the prostate gland.

Ultimately, more research is needed to fully understand the link between prostate cancer and ejaculation.
