How to Detect the Presence of Cancer in the Heart

Primary heart cancer refers to cancer that originates in the heart, while secondary heart cancer refers to cancer that starts elsewhere in the body and then spreads to the heart.

Heart cancer most often appears in the left atrium of the heart. This part of the heart receives oxygen from the lungs. If you are worried that you may be suffering from this conditionit is important to know what various symptoms can occur.

Here are some things that can performed to detect heart cancer early, including:

1. Know Family History

Knowing whether or not there is a family history of cancer is something important. Because, by knowing this, you can be more aware of this disease. Genetics is a factor that increases the risk of developing several types of cancer.

2. Understand Common Symptoms Associated with Cancer

You are the first person who should be aware of any differences or changes that occur in the body

Although some types of cancer do not cause symptoms at first. However, it generally causes a lump or swelling.

If you find any part of your body that swells suddenly, don’t take it for granted and see a doctor immediately.

Apart from swelling, other symptoms to watch out for include:

  • Unexplained weight loss
  • Fever

4. Shortness of Breath

You may start to feel short of breath if you have heart cancer because the cancer cells can affect the way circulation occurs in your body. This can limit the amount of oxygen you can carry to your body.

These short breaths may feel like you can’t hold your breath, even when exerting only minimal effort or just lying down. It can also cause extreme fatigue during physical activity.
